Carrie & Rick’s wedding at St George’s Church in Atherton was a wonderfully relaxed and personal celebration, filled with laughter, family and plenty of character. From their church ceremony to portraits in the surrounding area — with their four-legged companion joining in too — their day was unmistakably theirs.
Planning the Perfect Spot
Ahead of Carrie & Rick’s wedding, we visited St George’s Church in Atherton to explore the surroundings and plan ahead. With limited space within the church grounds for larger group photographs, we found a nearby green space that offered the room and backdrop we needed.
On the wedding day, that preparation meant everything could flow naturally and efficiently, giving Carrie & Rick more time to enjoy their celebrations while still creating the family groups and relaxed couple portraits they wanted.
Arrivals - Calm & Excited
Rick arrived early, giving us the perfect opportunity to capture a few relaxed portraits before the ceremony. We photographed him around St George’s Church in Atherton while he waited for Carrie, before friends and family began to arrive and the excitement started to build.
These quieter moments before a wedding are often some of our favourites —and calm, ready for the most important day of his life. As guests arrived and made their way into the church, the atmosphere grew with excitement and anticipation.
Carrie's Arrival
Carrie arrived looking absolutely wonderful, walking proudly towards St George’s Church with her dad. Before they entered, we took a few moments to capture some relaxed portraits and the excitement of those final minutes before the ceremony.
As the doors opened and Carrie began her walk down the aisle, Rick’s reaction said everything. Those first glances between a couple are moments we’re always ready for — genuine, emotional and impossible to recreate.
A Ceremony Full of Joy
Carrie and Rick’s ceremony at St George’s Church in Atherton was heartfelt, joyful and full of personality. From the moment Carrie reached the aisle, there were smiles, laughter and plenty of emotion from both the couple and their guests.
We love photographing ceremonies as they naturally unfold — the glances, reactions and little moments happening around the couple are often just as meaningful as the main events. Carrie and Rick’s ceremony had all of those in abundance.
Just Married
Newly married, Carrie and Rick made their way back down the aisle together to the smiles and congratulations of their family and friends. These first few moments after saying “I do” are always wonderful to photograph — the nerves have disappeared and suddenly everything becomes celebration.
We simply let the moment unfold, capturing the laughter, affection and reactions around them as they enjoyed those first few minutes as a married couple.
Formals Together
Group photographs are an important part of a wedding day, but they certainly don’t have to feel formal or uncomfortable. After the ceremony, we brought Carrie and Rick’s family and friends together for a mixture of traditional group portraits and something a little more playful.
Once the essential photographs were captured, we let everyone have some fun — resulting in one of those wonderfully chaotic images filled with movement, laughter and personality.
A Personal Touch Along the Way
Carrie had one particular location that held special meaning for her, so we made time during the day to stop there together and capture a few photographs.
These personal touches are what make every wedding different. Beautiful venues provide wonderful backdrops, but sometimes the most meaningful location isn't grand at all — it simply means something to the people in the photograph.

An Intimate Celebration at Carmen
Carrie and Rick continued their celebrations at Carmen in Atherton, choosing a smaller and more intimate setting to spend time with their family and friends.
With beautiful weather, guests could relax both inside the bar and outside in the courtyard, creating a wonderfully informal atmosphere. It suited Carrie and Rick perfectly — relaxed, personal and centred around simply enjoying time with the people closest to them.
